Steve Speak has over 30 years of work and leadership experience within the Advanced Materials Industries and end markets. His extensive technical and operational background, along with an intimate understanding of the Composites landscape, positions him as the ideal advisor to companies in this sector that are in need of M&A, capital markets and/or financial restructuring advisory services. Prior to joining FocalPoint, Mr. Speak was the President of Cytec Engineered Materials and an Executive Officer of Cytec Industries. As President of this $750 million business unit, he managed 1,700 people in 10 manufacturing and R&D centers around the world serving the global aerospace and industrial markets. His experience also included the integration of bolt-on acquisitions, the turn-around of underperforming assets, and the management of large capital expansion projects. In part of his Executive Officer role, Mr. Speak served as a member of the company’s Leadership Team which was responsible for strategy and business results for Cytec Industries ($3B revenue) and served on the Board of Directors Committee for Safety, Health and Environmental affairs. Prior to assuming the role of President of the Engineered Materials division, Mr. Speak served in various managerial capacities within the Cytec organization and was involved with several high-profile strategic initiatives, expansionary efforts, and business acquisitions as well as overseeing Cytec’s involvement with major programs such as the F-22, F-35 and Boeing 787 platforms.

Mr. Speak began his career at BASF Structural Materials where he developed and qualified structural adhesive and composite systems for aircraft/aerospace/launch vehicle applications and also developed an industry benchmark for structural bonding adhesive which is still in use today.

Mr. Speak received a B.S in Chemistry from Weber State University, an M.B.A. from Utah State University and has studied Advance Management Practices at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He also currently runs an independent executive coaching and consulting practice.
